Sticking with Pigs - Movie Trailer

    Last term for reading, the year 7 and 8's were reading the book Sticking with Pigs. It was about a boy, Wolf, whose brother, Davey, had addison's disease and got hit by a car. He was basically living in hospital. His dad's brother, Jem, took Wolf out on a hunting trip, away from all his family stress, but what happened was more the they had anticipated.

For the last activity, we had to make a movie trailer and here it is. We all had different jobs to do, I was the director and editor. We had some help from someone who does things like this alot. I hope you enjoy it and please tell me what you think of it in the comments.    

  

Aerodrome Visit

This term our topic is 'Flight'. Nine of the seniors took a trip to the Greymouth Aerodrome to look and learn about the planes. There 4 planes but one was away for maintenance. We watched one take off and land and we got to sit inside the other two. At the end we had a paper plane competition. Here are some of the photos... Enjoy!

 

 

My Writing, The Brain

The Brain

The brain is made up by two parts, the left and right hemisphere, even though there are many different

segments that grow bigger the more you learn.

The Brain takes up only 2% of the body’s weight and and the Cembreum is the heaviest segment in the brain, make 85% of its weight

Right now what you’re doing is controlled by the brain. Do you want to know more about it? Well here are some information about some different parts.

The Frontal Lobe

The Frontal Lobe is located in the forehead. It helps to choose between bad and good decisions, most of the Nerves are connected to it. It is made up from different parts, including the Motor Strip, which takes in Movement.

The Temporal Lobe

The Temporal Lobe mainly revolves around hearing and selective listening. It receives sensory information such as sounds and speech from the ears. It is also key to being able to comprehend, or understand meaningful speech.

The Nervous System                                                                                                                                                      

The Nervous System is made up of billions of nerve cells, called ‘Neurons’,  that join together to make nerves. An Adults brain holds about 100 billion Neurons and trillions of Glia cells. A glia cell carries out tools like transporting nutrients.

Term 3, Welcome Back

Welcome back to term 3, 2018. I hope you had an awesome holiday and and enjoy being back. Here are some things I had done throughout the holidays.

First on Saturday my mum and I drove over to Christchurch and flew up to New Plymouth to visit my uncle Andy, my aunty Bridgy and my baby cousin Claire, who is 5 months old.
   

 

I also went to the mining protest on the Taramakau Bridge opening and I helped at the Grey District library's Mad Hatter's Tea Party. 
                                         
                                                                                   

My School Jobs/Responsibilities

At school we all take up our own jobs and responsibilities. I'm going to tell you mine and explain a little bit about what I have to do.

Bus Monitor: Some students have to take a bus to school. The two oldest that have been on the bus the longest will become the bus monitors. We have to remind people about the rules and make sure everyone is safe.

Librarian: We organise competitions and look after and work in the school library.

Notices: At the end of the day, if there are any notices to hand out, as people walk out to the gate, I hand them out to them.

As being a part of the seniors at the school, it is our job to help the junior kids out and help in the junior class
