SLJ D2: Weird and Wonderful

On your blog, tell us how to solve this maths problem. You can write your answer in words, use a Sketchpad image, or post a video explaining how you would figure it out. Be sure to give us your final answer in millilitres (ml).

It was actually quite easy, all I did was... there are 365 days in a year so I times that by 3 then add ml on the end to end up with 1095 ml (one thousand and ninety five)

  1. Kia Ora Jessica,

My name is Rachel and I am working on the Summer Learning Journey programme. It is great to see that you have joined us again this year for another great summer of blogging!

It's wonderful to read that you found this activity to be quite easy. Have you been practicing problem solving in maths class at school? If you enjoy maths problems there is another one called 'Flying Fungi' in Week 3 (Day 2, Activity 3). Feel free to check it out!

I hope that you will have time to re-join the journey over the coming weeks. We will be open everyday until Friday 25 January 2019 so feel free to hop on and blog with us any time! Most of the activities relate to the environment and the prizes that we have selected for the programme this year also relate to the environment. One of the prizes is a set of beeswax wraps, just like the ones that you are making in your picture. How cool is that?! Do you make homemade wraps with your family every year? I would really like to try and make them with my son, Aronui. He is 8 years old and goes to school here in Auckland. Perhaps he and I can try to make some over the summer, in time for him to take them to school next year...

Wishing you and your entire family a lovely start to 2019.

See you back online when you have time!

    Bye for now,
    Rachel :)
